Thanks to Joe for sending me a Jpeg file of the front page of yesterday’s Des Moines Register. (Go here to view the paper. The file is to big to put on the blog).
The headline reads “Militants Avenge Abuse With Taped Beheading.”
Oh, the things that headline implies! If not for Abu Ghraib, Nick Berg would still be alive.
After the 3,000 that were murdered on September 11, after murderous bombing in places like Bali and Saudi Arabia, after the killing of four American contract workers in Iraq, have we learned nothing about the nature of our enemy? Have we not learned that Isalmofascists will kill innocents regardless of the reason? Have we not learned that thuggish, cowardly brutes would have beheaded Nick Berg even if Abu Ghraib had never take place?
Apparently the editors of the Des Moines Register have not.
