BACK LATER
I am going to be out of town for a few days, so no blogging for a little while. Which means I'll miss out on all of the fallout from the State Supreme Court decision on the Iowa Values Fund. Oh well, I'll try to do something on it when I get back. At the Public Interest Institute we have written on it extensively (Go here, here, here, here, and here.)
Also, I should (empahsis on should) have another article in National Review Online and the American Spectator by the end of the week. So just keep checking those sites if you are interested.

VILSACK FOR VEEP?
Yes, I’ve seen the speculation over at NRO and at Tusk and Talon. Apparently Vilsack is on Kerry’s very short list.
Here are some reasons why Vilsack might make a good choice (and for a far more persuasive case why he won’t, click on the NRO link above):
1. Maybe he’ll have some appeal beyond Iowa. Picking a Midwest Governor might help Kerry in Missouri and Ohio. This seems to be the iffiest reason though. It doesn’t seem that Vilsack has much name recognition beyond Iowa.
2. He’s a good campaigner. Vilsack has shown in two gubernatorial races that he has good campaign skills. Whether they will hold up in the withering glare of national media spotlight is anyone’s guess. But Kerry could do worse on this score.
3. He’s a bit dull. That seems like a drawback, but given Kerry’s persona, Vilsack at least wouldn’t upstage him (unlike Edwards.)
I’m rather surprised that Evan Bayh is not on Kerry’s shortlist. He’d seem to be the ideal choice. The choice of Vilsack suggests that the Kerry campaign is still incompetent.
Okay, okay: I have a dog in this fight. Back in February I had a piece in NRO as to why Vilsack wouldn’t be the Veep choice. So what goes better with crow—barbecue or white wine sauce?

THE LAKERS MAY LOSE!
The Detroit Pistons have a 3-1 game lead on the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Championship.
No team has ever come back down 3-1.
HA HA HA HA!
